This is an incredible map showing details of the
Battle of Monmouth in the Revolutionary War. The map was
created in 1778, within days of the actual battle. The map shows a
sketch of part of the road from Freehold to Middle Town showing the
skirmish between the rear of the British Army under the command of
General Henry Clinton
and the advanced corps of the rebel army, June 28th. 1778. Sketch of
Middle Town. It shows the position of grenadiers and guns before and
after the action.
